Master Gardener Rookies Visit Anna Smith

A few at a time at first, then more and more rookies arrived. John led several down the native path, Rosemary Long and Dorene Fretwell gave informative tours of the garden in general, Ray Etheredge held court at the grape vines and the rest of us basically answered questions. The stronger souls either loaded the wheelbarrows with mulch or hauled them to the areas of the path were they were dumped. There the rake wielders set to work spreading mulch on the paths or under the vine arbors. When all of the rakes were in use, some started weeding under the apple espalier arbor, and in the English, fern, succulent and fuchsia beds.
