The harvesting continues! Heather Holmen and team harvested at least 4 bags of lettuce. We cut the romaine and other lettuces to 2 inches from the soil—Heather pointed out that with the heat we are going to have it would bolt before we returned. This way there is a chance it will produce more. Lucky soup kitchen!
Add the absolutely beautiful daicon radishes, the Touchstone Gold and Red Ace beets and Swiss chard from Jim Rodman and the lovely mesclun and mustard greens Julie Rhee produced in the unusual vegetables bed, we did more than well. Throw in several bags of rosemary and oregano from Lorraine—Wow!
Soon we will be sending beans from Carol Reese and Tom, cucumbers and peppers from Betty Clark, potatoes from Marcia, and tomatoes from Anne Anderson. Anne has planted multi-purpose leeks around the tomatoes to beautify, keep off bugs and contribute to the crop output.
