Plants for the Butterfly House

The butterflies will be arriving soon!! They have an amazing transformation ahead of them. Just take a look at the chart. We'll need to provide both nectar for adults and host/food plants for the larvae (caterpillars). We will also make sure they have a water source (a large shallow plate) and places for hiding and resting. Butterflies don’t mind if things are messy so we like to keep a corner unkempt so they'll feel right at home. One thing we never do is use pesticides. They are harmful to butterflies.

One of our top priorities is stocking the butterfly house with tasty plants. They will all have hardy appetites and need our help.

If you have any plants on the list below in your garden and wouldn't mind sharing, please bring plants to ASG. Plant donations would be much appreciated and the butterflies will thank you too!
