Master Gardeners' Legendary Treats


  As you may know the WSU Master Gardeners at Anna Smith Garden are legendary for delicious treats. This past week was no exception. Carol H. brought scones, Suzanne made orange chocolate chip cookies; Roxanne gave us chocolate covered shortbread, Carol Reese brought fresh fruit and Heather wowed us with her spinach and strawberry salad. (dressing recipe below). Cream cheese with homemade jalapeño jam was Carol Johnson’s contribution with Tiffany providing wasabe peas and Kathy giving us hummus and chips. Yum yum yum!



Lemon Dressing/spinach salad
Heather Holmen

1 small lemon
2 Tbsp white wine vinegar
Sugar to taste, I used 2 Tbsp, can use up to 1/3 cup
1 Tbsp canola oil
1/2  to 1 tsp poppy seeds

Zest lemon, add juice from lemon, combine with the rest of the ingredients and whisk well. Refrigerate until ready to serve salad, then pour over salad and gently toss.

1/4 C sliced almonds
8 oz sliced strawberries
1/2 cucumber sliced
1/4 C red onion sliced thin
1 package of baby spinach
