Fall Cleanup

anna smith children park WSU learning garden
Many of the Anna Smith Children's Park plants are seeing the last of their productivity and are making one final visit to Don Goldsberry and his magic compost efforts. Wednesday, he had help from Jim Lahoe, who graciously brought wife Patricia to do her thing. She did a nice job in thinning and cutting back in the English bed while Monica Goldsberry did likewise for the beds of annuals which were still sporting beautiful gerbera daisies and lupine. Hate to cut back such beauty, but their days are numbered, as are those of the absolutely gorgeous dahlias. I think they heard us talking about cutting them down on the 12th and decided to put forth one last flush in order to convince us that that would be a foolish thing to do.
