Plant Thieves Will Be Composted!

Lois Maynard as usual was all over—cleaning up the Memorial bed, weeding under the small fruits and arranging plants in the heeling bed. Someone relieved us of the latest 2 heather plants she planted last week. That makes 4 total. You really don’t want to get me started on that. I was a raving maniac when I found that the geraniums I had planted in the half barrels at the entrance had simply been lifted and taken. Deer would have eaten the tops or the flowers, as they did the roses, but these entire plants are totally gone. There is evidence that the culprits started to dig up a couple of plants from the English bed but for some reason aborted the attempt. I am going to put scathing signs all around the garden in an attempt to discourage thieves. Grrrrrrr.
