Garden News

The Rookies got the garden off to a good start and left it looking spectacular! They weeded, composted, amended the raised beds, pruned the clematis, installed the bean arbor, uncovered the dahlia parade and moved the straw to the grapes/kiwis/espalier beds as mulch and weed-suppressant.
The Mason Bees continue to express their approval as well, nearly filling up all the tubes in one of the new homes.

More recent a small contingent got to work seeding several beds: bed 22 with mixed beets (Burpee’s Golden and Pacemaker III) and carrots (Nelson Hybrid and Rotild); bed 18 with peas (Sugar Daddy); bed 26 with sweet corn (Peaches & Cream); bed 28 with shelling peas (Progress #9); bed 32 outside the bean arbor with lettuce and onions (Guardsman and ??); and bed 33 outside the bean arbor with radishes (Easter Egg Blend), kale (Nero Toscano), Swiss chard (Bright Lights) and scallions (White Lisbon).

Happy Gardening!
