Jack (A Fabulous Photographer) is one of our favorite visitors to the Garden. We asked him to tell us a little about himself and to share some of his fabulous pictures with us. Please enjoy!
About me. Hmmm. I'm 58, grew up in So. California in a farming community, got my first taste of Washington via the US Army at Ft. Lewis basic training in 1971, have four daughters aged 38, 24, 21 and 7...and three grandkids, one of whom just started college and the other two in high school. I've been fascinated by art and photography all my life and I think I come by it naturally, as my grandfather was one of Hollywood's original cameramen for all the major studios. I grew up in a lush valley surrounded by mountains, with the deep desert and the Pacific Ocean only an hour away in opposite directions. I spent much of my childhood exploring a variety of natural settings and I credit that with my love of the outdoors and an certain attention to detail. I am heavily influenced by Georgia O'Keeffe's vision of floral nature...I have unashamedly attempted to emulate her painting style photographically and been partially successful. I love seeing the little details and hidden secrets of everyday objects and nature and bringing those to print.
I am currently one of the featured artists at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas and have had many showing around the Pacific Northwest. My nature work can be seen at www.truemarkphotography.com in the fine arts gallery.
