The Last August Harvest

We picked a slew of beans, with Rosemary Long, Betty Clark, Donna and granddaughter Tori picking from 2 of the beds, and Carol Reese, Joyia Rubens and Debra Hall doing 2 others. We may be coming to the end of the crop, but we are justly proud that they have been wonderfully productive.
John Mikesell picked a bag full of absolutely beautiful tomatoes—the first of the season--- and Judith Martin gathered in her very large (19 ½ pounds!) and impressive pumpkin, leaving several others to ripen and grow. Marcia Pauley dug at least 15 pounds of potatoes, with Tori helping and Jim Rodman consulting. There is still half of the patch to dig!

Carol Harcharik got a bucket full of squash, Jim added more beets and Donna pulled carrots. Someone added a wonderfully misshapen cucumber—I did say one—which makes a total of 3 for the year. What is this with the cucumbers? But we had a hefty 70 pounds of produce for Debra to take to the soup kitchen.
