Beans, Beans, and More Beans!
We continue to be amazed at the amount of beans we get each week. One disturbing factor was when Lily, Sandy Livermore ’s darling little granddaughter, crawled through the bean tunnel she exclaimed that it was full of beans. She was given a bag and picked at least a pound. I, on the other hand, searched the vines on the outside of the tunnel and came away empty handed. Either I have lost my sight, or the hoop beans had outside help in being harvested. Could it be that I’m just being cynical? Fortunately we have several other bean beds and with Kathy Hawkins and Rosemary Long picking from one bed, Lois Maynard from another and Debra Hall and Carol Reese from the bean teepee, we sent a total of 18 pounds to the soup kitchen.
