Julie Rhee took these beautiful pictures of Cardoon Flowers. The flowers are now gone. Thankfully we can still enjoy these pictures! Cardoons are in the Asteraceae Family. Cardoons are deer resistant but attract bees, birds, and butterflies. The stalks are edible but I recommend research before harvesting. The stalks are spiny and sharp. The park, located on Tracyton Boulevard at the intersection of Fairgrounds Road, features a pond, WSU Master Gardener's demonstration garden with a butterfly garden green house, a wide grassy area, picnic tables, and 200-foot stretch of beach.
